I'm with you 100%. What's the deal with all new cars having a high rear end?? Ick.. The rear of the 8 is just about the only thing I don't like about it.
Regardless I think Ethan has a pretty good grasp on what it could look like if the car were to be built, and not just a reformat/configuration of the 8. Obviously the wheels are out of proportion but hey….

I agree that the hard corners are already “played out” as it were.

I would much rather see a car that embodies the good points of the FD and builds on it in a new aggressive form.

Hopefully a new high HP N/A engine or 15B sequential supercharger down low with turbo up top for the best of both worlds.

... but as long as ford has control over mazda i don't think many exciting things are gonna happen.
BINGO!

That is the main reason. Ford owns 30% of Mazda's stock and the two are so deep into each others pockets. Big Ford cannot advocate anything that would Jeopardize it's market too bad... Unless it was beneficial to Ford to market a totally bad *** rotary.

And I am confused about the first post... The dealer did not say there would be another seven in 2007, he said there would be a squeezed eight with two seats and two doors. I think we are getting our hopes up big time here. Kinda like a guy sitting around waiting for the best ***** he ever had to walk back into his life.

exactly what i was thinking.

i am sure if they produced a car like that, i would drool over it in the showroom, but right now it looks like the 350z humped an rx8 and this halfbreed came out.

You know if that doesn’t describe what us rx7 enthusiasts are really doing, I don’t know what dose.

Still, it would be nice to see a new 7 that broke as many of the molds the FD did over 12 years ago.

To me that is the real fascination with the car is that is so not just everything else its very unique and interesting.

And if its being different just to be different, oh well it has my attention.

I first heard this when the RX-8 came out. this is no different then when the G35 came out and then a few months later introduced the coupe. I don't see why it would take 3 years to unviel essentially the same car.

anyway, keep your eyes open, because the news in Japan happen before anywhere else.
