Exclamation

I just spilled my guts on an other website about the negative imputs on the RX-8. It comes to this; WAKE UP! the RX-8 is not an rx-7 replacement nor is it a sports car, its a totally new animal and if it gets the media attention it deserves there will be a lot more rotary engine vehicles on the road.

Few people can afford or justify a sports car, most people in my part of the country drive cheep crap econoshit (saturns) or suv's, trucks or minivans, all road blocks when I'm in an rx-7 , especially when I'm in a turbo.

We NEED the RX-8, we need any thing that comes to market with a rotary under its hood. This will make our favorite motor cheeper and more available.

If everyone that loves the rotary emails ford to bring out new rotary engine products the automotive world will become a lot more interesting. Imagine 4 rotor mustangs, the rotary in a nascar entry, the possible savior of the global warming problem, a hydrogen fueled rotary powered vehicle in everybodys garage! Screw big oil and the arabs!

Empower thyself! use your email.

ehh...Chevy made a prototype Rotary corvette back in the day, but the oil crisis canceled the project. Time will tell if this is truely the return of the Rotary...i would love that. Im looking for a new car, and it sucks cause i dont want anything without a rotary. My dad is trying to convince me to get away from rotaries cause he says they arent too reliable, but wtf else am i gonna look for? cant afford a ****** 3rd gen...

Rotaries are very reliable. Anybody who doesn't believe so doesn't know any better.

Yeah, most people give them a bad rap because they don't know about them, and just go by what they've heard. Many people think they're slow too.

Yea you are right the RX-8 is not a sports car, hell the lack of demand for sports cars is why the RX-7 was pulled in the first place.

I think it will be banging around in the popular "sports sedan" market.... I bet it will do quite well too!

Thumbs up

man a rotary, any rotary whether it is a sports car or a minivan, is a good rotary. imagine 3 and 4 rotor engines so common place that it would be a snap to swap em around and create frankenstiens with monster power -- kinda like the 2.0 liter civics runnin around out there.

Hey Bomber, my point exactly, Imagine its 2005 and your friends pickup truck has a mustang 3 rotor in the bed which you just paid $800 for and Mazdatrix sells a kit so you can drop it into your '88 gxl, lets see thats 147 hp on a good day now 300+ without a turbo! A three or four rotor motor could find its way into the mustang and then be found in common salvage shops if we all told Ford how much we would like to see the rotary in the mustang.
