what happen they melt? i dont think its the same method as regular soldering. maybe cold soldering?

hard to get the old solder off, i got this desoldering bulb and the **** sucks. I guess i should use desoldering wick i guess

Use the wick. A dab of new solder on the iron helps transfer heat into the wick.
