Cats

Yeah. The whole family member thing couldn't be more true. My dog is going on 12 years old but the vet says she "has the health of a seven year old."
Obviously, nothing will replace your previous cat but perhaps you can save a life or two on death row, a.k.a., the ASPCA.

The most awkward part is when you expect her to be the places she's always been and she isn't. She doesn't jump on your lap at the worst possible time when watching TV right when you're about to get up anymore. No more seeing her in the mornings when she's sitting on the heating vents catching the warm air. It's just these little moments that bug me becuase i still remember it so vividly. Anyways i'm just happy we had such a great time with her when she was here. Welcome to life.
yep, it's just another part of life with a conscious. Go have a guinness

when my mom moved in san antonio to a new apartment where they didn't allow cats, she had our 8+ year old cats put to sleep so they would be "in a better place." she cried sooo much. the vet let her take them (the cats) home in a card board box to bury them or whatever, and she asked me to throw them away. so i did, but i didn't put them far enough down in the trashcan and she saw the boxes. she started crying really bad, sobbing, and went and got them, and said she wanted to have them stuffed so she could always remember them. she stuck them in the freezer to preserve them, and that freaked me and my brother out, and we told her that was gross and to throw them away.
she said "no, cat's give me unconditional love, yall dont." aparently, we were being mean (kids, what are you gunna do). so i said "not, that's not real love, get over it mom." she threw them away, finally.
this post was in loving memory of Jetta and JR (just right).
dont know how this makes anyone feel better, but it was one of teh crazyiest days of my life. anytime you find two euthenized cats, dead, in a cardboard box in your kitchen freezer, it really makes you think...

Yeesh, that is an experience to experience firsthand to experience to the fullest.
To the original poster, you can get another cat and eventually love it instead of the one that died. Pets are hard to lose, but when they die you can help the life of another cat by adopting it from the humane society before it gets euthanized like the ones in the wacky story that was just told.
