Hey, I don't have the money right now to get full exhaust on my FC, but I was wondering if I gutted the cats would I get that much extra performance from my stock exhaust? I don't really know much about the exhaust system, I was thinking about getting a RB header, but I didn't know if the stock exhaust was straight pipe or not. Anyone wanna let me know?

if you take it apart you will find that the first 2 cats are already gone. finsh the wire screens out of the main cat and call it a day

yeah on the stock old junk you can consider hollowing the cats a reliability mod... since one of them is likely clogged by material from an upstream cat that fell apart by now.

 

I gutted all three, none were clogged, but I wanted to get more from it, it is real easy, used a long screwdriver and a hammer, hardest part is putting it all back. I did that, then I went with a single 2-1/2 inch pipe to one muff, sounds good and you will notice a little bit of improvement on performance, but not much. I did it mainly to have better flow, but you will have a echo sound with the two pre silencers gutted, I am going to replace those with straight pipe. Good luck.

 

im werking on the same dilema. I think my cats are good i got an inspection and i was way under my nyc's emissions. My car doesnt smoke bad and got more than 78,000 it runs nice and doesnt really give me problemz. But i wanna take my cats out and put rb headers to str8 pipe to rb exhuast 26-28% hp gain yeyaaaaaaaaaaah
