What are the symptoms of clogged cats besides low power? Does it smell any different? I know they glow red after hard driving, but that's kinds hard to see with the heat shield in place.

My old Camaro had it's cat die fast. One day everything was fine, next day it was loud as hell and had no power. Bogged down when trying to accelerate, but loud as hell out the same time. All the gaskets in front of the cat were leaking because of the backpressure.

Like mike said...They will leak from the header or the main cat gasket areas due to backpressure build up.My car was nice and loud with them clogged. Just wanted the noise out the back of the car so I pulled them. The power gain is just a bonus.
