I certainly don't go camping very often, but when I do, I thoroughly enjoy it. Last time was just me and the wife, before the kids came along. We picked a very secluded state park in southwest Virginia. No trailers for us, just a cozy little tent. Everything we needed fit easily into the trunk of my wife's car. Very relaxing. Got to do some fishing, build a nice fire, eat some simple food cooked over a fire. For me, it's about getting away from all the modern conveniences and just disconnecting for awhile. No TV, no traffic, no phone. Just fresh mountain air and the chirping of birds and crickets. It's not for everybody, but then again, what the hell is?

I go camping frequently in the fall and spring - when it's cold enough that a nice roaring fire is needed. I don't understand camping in the summer when it's 100+ degrees outside and you just sweat and be miserable.

I go to get away. I've got a couple of gear boxes that stay packed and stocked with everything i need. I just toss them in the back of the truck and go. Where depends on my mood. The Tennessee river is a couple of hours east of me - good bass fishing. The Ozarks are a couple of hours to the west - trout fishing, hiking, mountain climbing. Last fall I went to Chattanooga. 5 hours away, but i took 4 days off to go caving. Had a great time. The best thing about all of those places? My cell phone doesn't work at any of them. No schedule, no alarm clocks, just relaxing. Take a book, prop my feet up by the fire... yeah. I like camping.

yeah, but you did not have some asswad with a tiny *****, and a really bad anger problem breathing down your neck.

i enjoy it still, its better than going to the ******* beach. who wants to sit on sand filled land, with the sun baking down on your ***, and dealing with a bunch of ******* retard kids. went to ocean city a few years ago, i will never do that again.

When I was a kid, there was a time period when we went camping in Panama City every spring break, always in St. Andrews State Park. I like because it's just something different, staying up late listening to the radio in the van with the back doors open, not ever knowing what time it is, hanging out with cousins on the beach at 2 am, and waaay cheaper than a hotel.

The most refined I'll get, is whenever I decide to build a teardrop trailer.
