anyone drive the rx8
Anywho, toyota/lexus, honestly are very good at lasting forever. I very rarely have lexus' in the shop, if they are in the shop it's for the scheduled maintenance stuff. Which even if you dont follow the car lasts forever.
And the IS series is pretty nice, havent had a chance to drive in the new ones, but the IS300 was nice. I wanted to buy one to drop and turbo but well im not a fan of new cars, nor is my wallet
.
SilverSeven, didnt mean to get into a "battle", just staring at problematic cars all day (not specifying a brand here, its just i stare at annoyingly problematic **** all day...thats what i get for being one of the 2 main diagnostic guys..the other 2 mechanics cant diagnose **** but can fix stuff pretty good) The M5 is fun.
Oh and honda/acura seems pretty reliable, especially there newer stuff. I still gotta say toyota edges it out, the word around the water cooler tho is that honda's "longevity" is going down the drain.
Oh, and has anyone ever worked on an old school carb-ed honda? Talk about rats nests...you guys think rx7s are bad? those things have seriously hundreds of lines....one of our mechanics kids just bought one, its scary under that hood.
kevin.

please explain more. i bought a new one almost a year ago for the reliability/i liked it/good gas mileage factor.
Well, the whole thing is it's unsubstatiated but apparently the reliability has been dipping a bit with honda. I've persoally not run into it, but they're saying that some things dealing with the engine/engine controls (sensors etc) just dont make sense for something that should last a while. I'm not positive on what it is exactly but there's been talk of basically bad "long-term" engineering.
Again i haven't seen any problems of the sort.
Plus factor in all the kiddies ricing out there hondas and changing the timing and ****, then reselling their waste products to a general consumer, and then it breaks and the guys like "WTF, i didnt do anything bad"...thats why its hard to tell if the rumor carries any real weight.

ahh.. well, other than distance commuting, oil changes every 5,000 (they recommended every 7-10,000 because of my commute) tire rotation every other oil change.. i don't plan on changing or touching a thing on this car.. brakes and tires when needed.
it's nice, comfy, 6 disc changer in dash, sunroof, 5 speed.. i really think it's a great car. and i love 4 doors.. i always drove 2 dr., but having the extra room is great.

thanks man. i didn't buy it for looks or for performance.. i bought it for my commute.. 34mpg on the sticker (and thats what i get highway/city combined in the summer).. in the winter it drops to 32ish for city/highway combined.. so if im pulling max gas mileage outta my car, and it's super comfy, not to mention a decent stock stero.. im thrilled.. also, even when i open the sunroof at 80mph, it stays pretty damn quiet inside.. i absolutely love it.. i plan on keeping it as my lifetime beater.. goal is at least 300k miles.
as for the 06 accord.. wow.. they killed the rear of the car.. now it looks like a ford 500 or taurus.. im glad i got mine when i did.
im gonna try to find a pic of the exact one i have with the spoiler. i don't have a digi cam...
hey silver_seven.. is that your M5 in your sig? sharp car, but (no offense) clean the brake dust off the rims, and retake the picture.
