Ok, well...

My '88 SE just blew..so I'm doing a GTX motor swap soon too. You can get the motor from a number of places, the Jspec ones will be cheaper..there is a link to a lot of people who sell them at the top of this forum. I was quoted at $800 to $1000 in labor depending on how complete the motor is and how much time it takes. They also said it would be about 2 weeks to get it done. They are going to let me work on my car while its in their shop though, so I'm hoping all they'll have to do is install the motor and tranny, and I'll do the rest(turbo, IC, manifolds, vacuums, etc).

On to parts you'll need:

The motor(of course)

the matching intake manifolds, and a turbo exhaust manifold

a turbo

a T2 tranny

a T2 clutch/flywheel

a T2 ECU

and T2 exhaust.

thats all it really takes. Its not that difficult, just time and money consuming. I ran the figures, and its going to cost me about 3500 to do this...which is ironically how much I payed for the car! I'll let ya know how my transplant goes...but I'll tell ya right now, if I find an '86 to '88 SP NA motor..I'm putting that in instead!!!!

If I knew then what I know now, I would of gone haltech. I would of save a lot of money back then and be making more hp by now. I did the swap also a few years ago.

A friend of mine just picked one up from a place in Queens. Send me a PM and I'll try to find out more for you.
