in the long run you are better off with a motec all new harness. nothing to really worry about. if i had money to do it over i'd probably go with a motec or tec III

The Motec M-4 ran me well over $4K. Its spensive!!!!

Here is a pic from underneath my car looking at the downpipe I hope it helps. You might have to cut your flange turn your pipe and reweld. We just bent the heatshield slightly. Once the engine was in the car and run for a little while it settled down nicely.

yeah my engine was high. i re did the mounts today and the engine is dead in the middle and the crank is as high as the original now. i did do something that might have been a bit stupid today as well..

even with the engine in the new position i wasn't happy with the dp clearance so i cut the wastegate off. straight throught the manifold. now as its cast it might not wield properly so i may have to make one from scratch

anyone got some pictures of a home made manifold

i've been waiting for some 1600 secs for about 4 months now but when i get them ill tackle the loom. i want to chop out all the unnessecery wires to tidy up the look a bit. tomorrow i will fill up the oil levels. i had the box rebuilt as well just for piece of mind. ill keep you all informed,,, if your interested

Yes we are interested. Its always cool to see someone doing a ROTARY engine swap.

I have a ton of pics if you need to see anything else let me know. Or if you need suggestions I can try to help too.

Good Luck!!

nice one mate..

i spoke to my dad,, he is in engineering, and because of the extreme hot and cold of the manifold it is probably not worth welding . but he might be able to make one

i've looked on this site and it says that the flanges should be 1/2inch thick and the pipes 5mm. i will ask for it in ss.

the next prob i have is the loom. i have the complete engine loom and thought i would just plug in the ecu and away i go,, BUT the wires for the coils go off in a different direction. they must go round the other side of the car and through the fire wall opposite the ecu ..

im now going to need wire diagrams to work out what wires from the ecu are from the coils.. i know you got motec but maybe someone else has an idea.

I had the same exact problem. I had the coils but not the ignitor. I actually have 2 of them and could sent you one. You will only need the wire that goes from the ignitor. Or you could go with 4 MSD coils and some MSD Ignition Controls.

Could you afford an aftermarket ECU? Microtech is good. A Wolf system is great and pretty affordable too.

You could probably wire in the FC coils too.

thanks for the offer jim but i may as well get any bits i need over here.

ill probably sound like a plank for saying this but, i didnt even no i needed an igniter im a panel beater by trade and im mechanicly minded so i have no probs doing up nuts and bolts. when it comes to electrics, things usually go up in smoke.

the idea of a stand alone system is starting to sound like a good idea as it will come with FITTING INSTUCTIONS the reason i wanted the Apexi was that they are common over here so mapping wont be a problem and i thought that it would plug into the loom that i have.. of course it will but its looking like i need more bits of loom.

someone has given me a web site to look at so ill do that now. it should have wire diagrams so i will see just how much i need.

thanks

jason

I didn't know about the ignitor either. I could never get mine to work I ended up wiring in my 2nd gen coils.

Info for the Wolf as it relates to a Rotary

Microtech:

Haltech: _ Would only go through Matt (Hitman) for this he offers the best support:

Motec if you have the money- My personal pick but its expensive.

Good luck!! You making a good decision going this route whichever you buy will be with you for the life of the car no matter how you modify the car.

BTW - Wiring in an ECU is like wiring in 5 car stereos in succession. Its not that hard just takes a little time.
