E8 fun, hints and tips

G'day guys,
I just installed a Haltech E8 in my '89 J-spec FC. if anyone got any questions about the install, let me know cause its still fresh in my mind
the beast is running pretty good after i pulled out a fair bit of fuel from my base map. idles a bit high, but cant win em all
Im running 4 x 910cc injectors, my base map was a 550/1600, so i had some fun with the fuel maps.
now my latest issue....
i re-checked my timing on L1 and its spot on -5, and T2 is at -20 (all good).
but when i stick my timing light on L2, the timing is like way off, not even on the pully.
i thought L1 and L2 fire together, so L2 should be at -5 too? or am i just being stupid?!
i checked my CAS and Coils wiring everything is a ok, i also made sure my CAS was inserted correctly.
any ideas?

Stock ignition
910cc all round
3inch exhaust all the way
stock turbo and IC (V-mount rad and IC comming!)

yeah if you're using the stock coils the leadings are either firing together or they arent firing at all, both leading plug wires are the same circuit
ok cool, thats what i wanted to know.
so then get this, when i put my timing light on L1 its got a good strong signal thats lined up with the pully (-5),
now when i put the timing light on L2, it seems like it got a crapier / weaker signal. the light flashes iregularly and its not a strong light. and its not at -5deg either, its nowhere to be seen!
im going to check my grounds again...

If you're using the stock coil L1 and L2 do fire together...every 180* of crank rotation. So in theory you should see at -5 (in this case) and at 175* ATDC #1 (180* opposite the -5 mark). However, a timing light may only flash when the given chamber is under compression. What that means is that when you use the light on L1 you'll see a flash at -5 but not at 175 ATDC even though the coil is still firing there. In the end what this means is that you most likely will not see the -5 mark when the light is attached to L2. You should see the opposite side of the pulley though. It's east enough to pull the pulley off and make a mark 180* out from the -5 mark to check this. You can make a mark for trailing as well.
