Well i'm finally selling my TII to get into an FD. Question I ask of you guys is how much does it usually cost to get into them? I'm looking at buying a chasis and putting an engine into one, doing the work myself. So what kind of suggestions/hints/tips would you give me on price cost starting and thigns to look for that are problematic. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Wow, good questions.. Problematic? The whole car is problematic. Seriously, check out the tranny, the PPF, the differential, the brakes, the turbos, the radiator.. VR colored FD's have fading problems on the mirrors and wing, all FD's have rock chip problems on the hood. Check out the front bumper for too much waving in the urethane; dents in the QP's are tough to deal with if they're too big. Most FD's have worn bolsters on the leather seats, look for chipping/peeling coatings on the interior black trim pieces for '93 sevens. The list goes on and on.. Can you be more specific of your concerns?

A good, complete shell should be no more than $8k. Maybe even 5.

Just regular types of thinks I should check for. Some of what you've posted are things im looking. Interior wise are there any things I should look for that have been abused also? And i've done motor swaps prior to my TII... how hard or how much more complicated is it to do such a thing to an FD?

Someone good with wrenches can swap the motor in a day.

I would avoid Montego blue and tan interior. I had two and it's the worst but of coarse that is my opinion. Nothing really major to look for in the interior other than just see if it looks ragged or not. Just look for a good body and decent interior. Have fun.

Those paint problems are dependant on year, not which color.

All 93's I've seen had paint problems, all 94's were pretty damn mint for a 10 year old car. Including mine...

I didn't mean it had a problem with the paint. I just think its a bad color.

ive only seen 3-4 parts on the fd that havent broken, you need to look at everything. if the interior is nice then its prolly been taken care of. remember these are cars people beat the snot out of and then dont want to fix
