XS POWER SMIC INSTALL(with pics)
#1
This is my first post on here. I recently picked up a 93 Montego Blue Touring. Ive been doing alot of needed maint. and repairs in the last month. While I was under the hood, I decided I needed to replace the intercooler. I thought that the factory IC just wasnt doing it. The rubber piping was starting to go and it just made sense to replace it to support the other mods of the car.
I was going to do a write up on a how to, but its really not needed. The SMIC is almost Identical to the Pettit SMIC in dimensions. Hence the reason why I bought it. Here are the links to the install pics:

Here are the list of mods at 60k miles.: APEXI Power FC ECU, Full Blitx 90mm turbo back exhaust, XS power SMIC, Air pump delete, Under drive pulleys, APEXI intakes, AEM UEGO(AFR), Boost guage, VOLK Daytona 17x9 wheels, eibach springs, and a Greddy strut tower bar.

Sounds great. I've heard those intercoolers are a good bang for the buck. But they're only as good as the duct. Are you going to get Pettit's duct?
If you keep it at near stock boost you won't need fuel immediately. But I agree with poorguy on the cooling and an aftermarket radiator would be a priority.
You also might want to check the turbo coolant hoses if you haven't already. Even at 60k they can get puffy and weak. They aren't expensive.
As a side note, personally I would have gone with an idler pulley to replace the airpump and avoided the under-drive set. They have more issues than I like.
