Just want to know what you guys think about getting some sponsorships for your FD. I applied for 1 and got approved, I want to know if this sponsorship thing is good or not before I go any further. If you have some stories to tell please do.

What sponsorship did you recieve. I've delt with Sport Compact Pro when I had my Integra, and then more recently with CarSponsorships.com. The way I've seen is, especially if you are new to sponsorships, is it works as a co-op or discount purchase program. You get to order product for sometimes a substantial discount. You usually have to wear their logo on your car, and attend a number of events per year. Its can be a good deal if you plan on purchasing some products and attending events over the next year. You don't really recieve anything free, so I guess its all about what your intentions for the car are. I am not in a financial situation right now to commit to purchasing x-amount of products over the next year, so for me it is not worthh it right now. If my situation were different and I could take advantage of the discounts then I would.

Yep. You pay them money so you can buy products at a discount. I supposedly got a $10,000 sponsorship from them, and I only bought a DC sports header for my Integ the entire year, and never attended any of their events. They send me a letter saying my sponsorship was renewed and all I have to pay is $80 or something. Yeah they suck. CarSponsorships.com is ok though.

Its all about you buying thier stuff.

I was on a pro staff and I was giving a boat and motor but worked on the weekends and shows......PITB! A lot of work goes into ths stuff.wouldnt they make more sales by advertising on TV,Radio or other media?

Not when every kid sends in some money and then BUYS parts.

I never gave money to anyone. Sorry its not real.

Legit, full ride deals are cool.

Anything less is a waste of time and money, imo.

A regional deal with a local company is a great place to start, once you put up some decent numbers and results it gets easier for the sponsor to manipulate their budget to accomodate you better.
