Sponsorship By A Major Auto Company
#1
OK I got offered a sponsorship by a company, that I will name later. Needless to say, I think you would all **** your pants if you knew who offered it.
Anyway, I had oportunities before to get parts from other companies here in Japan, but I chose to do it all on my own which is the hard way to travel. I know all the companies personally and sometimes go for a drink hehe.
Anyway, I was wondering if by taking a sponsorship by a company, which can be a competitor later in JT-Imports lifetime. I was wondering would I be back pedalling or selling out JT-Imports?
Thanks, try to be straight up about it.

Yeah... They seem pretty excited about it. I actually was asking them to attend one, and they said they would sponsor me and give me a great deal on a full kit along with anything else later so i can attend the car shows.. hummm

He might have to compete with his sponsor for business someday...
have the FD your show car then get an FC and have the FC the JT-Imports Drag/Drift car...... now there's an idea.

Jason,
Yeah, it is a tough line. Sponsorship usually entails getting free/cheap parts, but what does that mean monetarily for you?
In the short run, you've got a really nice car.
In the long run, you don't make any money...but you still have a nice car.
I would suggest that you focus on your business, rather than taking this sponsorship. Your business is meant to bring you some financial returns. A sponsorship is nice and all. But, with a constant amount of income (from your expanding business),...you can afford to "buy" or "purchase" those same parts and services, rather than relying on the sponsorship.

I used to work for a car related company a couple of years ago, and the way our sponsorhip worked was as to have the sponsored car have our full line on it. It was great for our company (not mine) because our product was out there\exposed, and it was great for the person who was sponsored because he was getting A LOT of bussines because of his show car.
It was a win-win situation on this particular situation!
My .02 cents & Good Luck!
