Turbos or something else?

Thumbs up

Well, I went and started the car yesterday after letting it sit for a week, went down to the store and noticed an odd smell coming from under the hood. So I went pulled over and saw I had oil everywhere underneath it.

Came home immediately checked oil level to see if it was ok but i'm smelling fuel also it seems when I checked the oil. Like it's in the oil.

I put a towel in front of my bov to see if anything was coming out of there and low and behold, it was soaked after just a couple revs.

Any ideas as to what would cause this to happen? Just old turbos or something of that nature or could it be something else maybe?

If you have oil coming out of your BOV's, it sounds like the oil seals are gone in one or both turbos. Was the car smoking out of the tail pipe? If so, you could have bad rotor oil seals too. How many miles are on the turbos? I know they dont last for too long before needing a rebuild.

actually don't know the milage on the turbos but im going to wager pretty high. The motor isn't very old at all, under 10k if i remember correctly.

Turbos are probably just blown and yeah smoke was coming from the tail pipe. Sigh.

I would say to have the turbos rebuilt before you do anything else. There are lots of places that will do it for a reasonable price. You will get smoke out of the tailpipe from the turbos as well . You can take your I/C off and see if there is oil in there too. If so, be sure to clean it out real good with kerosene or solvent before you run the car again.

Dont get them rebuilt, its cheaper to get brand new ones half the time. Also a good excuse to go single or buy upgraded twins.

If you wanna do it yourself I think a turbo rebuild kits runs about $500.
