Good Job so far!! Kinda wierd though. I also had to borrow a jack from my girlfriends dad. He gave me the same jack you are using! Only it didn't work!! You couldnt lower the car slowly!!! And I had the same problem taking tha trans out that you had. But you are getting alot more done in a day then I did. I think I stopped for 300 lunch breaks a day! Keep it up though and I will try to meet you up at Kroger on Saturdy!

So anyways it's past the weekend (which I had wanted to get this done by) and it's 98% done.
After the clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, etc. goes in...install the tranny. Jack it up and slide it on...not a really big job but your gonna need some longer bolts to bolt up to the engine. I'm not absolutely sure of the size but about an inch longer than the auto bolts. Also you need some starter bolts. Bolt the rear end back up and plug back in the rear axles on the side (Also a great time to replace fuel filter and rear brake pads, becareful they are kinda tricky). Umm...the rear axles will just slip in easy and you have to make sure they are straight before you pop them back in. Bolt up the wheels and move on to the trans. Trans should slide right on if you have the angle/height right. If it doesn't just slide on wiggle a little and if that doesn't work put the drive shaft in the end of it and turn it slowly while pushing on the trans (In order to get teeth lined up). Check point, look through the starter hole and turn the driveshaft...if it turns it's in gear, if not it's in neutral....so throw the shifter in and put it in first and test it...then put it in neutral and test it.
Make sure you hook up everything you see that can be hooked up! If not...**** it! j/k. Let's see...
- *MAJOR POINT*... take the gear shift indicator off the auto trans (thing that tells what gear your in), it'
s a little black box with a couple screws holding it on the passenger side of the trans, and plug it up to the big *** harness it fits into next to the back of the engine, if not..and it's not in park...YOUR CAR WON'T START!
Bolt up the drive shaft.
Ok hook it all up. Then Take that big black transmission/rearend brace and slap it on (Not an easy job). You have to make sure the trans is in the right spot and also the rearend at the same time, aka use two jacks. As soon as you get the 8 nuts on and the 1 bolt, slap in the starter (!!!) and hook it up ( black harness and black rubber thing) and bolt it down. Put ATLEAST the Precat or downpipe on the back of the turbo. And put the battery back in.
Whenever you turn your key you should have all the regular gauges and it should indicate the car is in park (if it doesn't mess with the little black auto shifter box). Now..MAKE SURE THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL..not on the gauges, on the trans itself.
Turn the key, but do not let the car start. If it starts turning over....your good to go, perfect the clutch slap the rest of the crap on and enjoy your car...unless the actual clutch isn't right.
If your car will start... make sure you don't miss anything whenever your putting it back together. 3 Crossmembers, Cruise control thingy, WHEELS, umm...just make sure.
Of course with my bad luck I have to wait until tomorrow to get a clutch master cyl from a dealership cause the one I have is a P.O.S. and doesn't feel like building any damn pressure.
But other than that my car is done...It starts but I haven't ran it yet due to the clutch issue.

More than likely I'll update the results of my accomplishment or failure tomorrow. Like I said in the beginning, I am in no way a master mechanic, but I can sweep a shop like nobodys buisness! If I can do it...this guy could do it ->

oh yea by the way it's done. I had some clutch issues. The guy I was talking to who was explaining the clutch to me says "Dude, It's just like a Porshe" you should have seen the look I gave him and I said "Well thank God I'm ASE Certified in Porshe! Wow I knew it would come in handy".. he then realized that before I slapped him, he'd better explain it... I still got a couple things wrong had to retrace myself a few times and finally went to Joe Flo's house and he showed me his old pressure plate (gave it to me too!) and I learned.
Speedometer doesn't work, gotta swap the gauges still, no big hurry.
Backup lights don't work, not a major issue either.
Need a stock shifter boot cause this pep boys one blows, this one is urgent.
Also I need to learn my car a little better...never had a fast standard before.
I love it compared to the automatic...I can get sideways now without a doubt in my mind wether I'm going to lose it or get it back.
It also seems to be a tiny bit faster..ok it's a ******* lot faster. I get 3rd gear sidewaysness going straight.
Also I realized I should have just used a stock clutch... I got a 6-puck in it and it's too damn touchy and going in 1st normal driving sucks, but after that it shifts fuggin' sweet.
Oh yea.. any questions feel free to ask. But keep in mind...I might not know what the hell I'm talking about.
