That's all I got for now, I'll be putting more into it tonight.

Probably doing the pedals and stuff.

Day 2 (Cont.)

Well tonight was pretty uneventful, I hooked up the clutch pedal and brake pedal. On the back of the automatic firewall you can see a plate over where the clutch master cylinder would be. So you take a 12mm wrench or deep socket and go on the inside and take it out it's only 2 bolts no sweat. There is a black insulation lining inside where the clutch pedal would be, so I just cut a square out so the pedal would fit. bolted up with no problems except the bolt towards the left fender is a s.o.b. to get a nut on. Also there is a bolt on the top where you can just slide the pedal on and stick a nut on it (The clutch pedal brace has a big hole that is meant for a bolt towards the steering wheel). That was settled so I removed the auto brake pedal and it came out and the other one went in the exact same spot as the auto (no big difference except pedal size).

Oh yea.. you have to have someone pushing on the clutch master cylinder on the other side of the firewall so you can bolt the pedal bracket to it, otherwise it will just be a pain in the ***.

-With that said and done I removed the center plastic piece (w/ashtray/changetray) And just went to town on the shifter. Easily done, a phillips head screwdriver and a 10mm socket.

There's two screws on the front of the shift ****, take those out then slide the shift **** off and left it hang. Then there's the black plastic piece below it, wiggle that up and it slides right off. Then unscrew the four screws on the outside with the screwdriver. After this there's like one long wire that you have to trace and then just undo that screw (wire is in shifter area). After that take the 10mm and undo the 4 outer nuts. After that, piece of cake, pull up (You can now see the ground, in my case the stain on the driveway...oops).

That's about all I got accomplished tonight, a bunch of my friends showed up and we just kinda hung out.

Then I had to goto my Comp 2 class for a few hours and just got back (I'm tired). I hope I don't get called in to work tomorrow.

Here's a pic of the center console.

BTW I looked at my car and it has 2 oil coolers in the front and a R1 spoiler and R1 Suspension...cause if that's base suspension I'd hate to feel the R1s, talk about bumpy. Maybe the guy who had it before me was trying to turn it into an R1 but liked the cruise control and automatic, or just never wanted to swap it.

That's it. I could describe the shower i'm about to take but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to know.

Very good job so far. I agree it seems like putting the couple bolts on the clutch pedal is the

biggest pain. Btw, the passenger side cooler is actaully for the tranny on the auto. I just removed mine. It is the same as an R1 oil cooler though, I just didnt take the time to figure out how to hook it up. You would need to buy the lines and such.

Do you plan on buying a new harness, or modifing the auto one?

Probably just going to modify the auto one. I don't feel like working under the dash all of that time.

Although I'm not quite sure what I have to do with the auto harness to get it right. I'm kinda concerned about the harnesses on the clutch pedal cause I don't have anything to plug into them. I'm thinking those are just the plugs that keep the car from starting whenever your foots off the pedal (so If I didn't hook it up I could just start the car without the clutch pedal in, I would like that). Sound right? But there's two plugs.

I think the hardest part is going to be switching the speedo and guages.... I wish there was an easy way.

Thanks for letting me know about that cooler though... I'm guessing that's where those two lines run from on the side of the trans. The starter on the auto is a little wierd...never really seen a starter that bolts into the side of the trans with side bolts (hard to explain) but it's wierd.

Also Benny... I might be able to beat that mustang after it's done.

I have alot of homework (College Trig) to do today so I'm not going to work on it as much. Tonight I'm going to try some stuff though.

Day 3-

I have officially reached a stopping point for the point and time (until tomorrow).

-I took the flywheel off and found the counter weight. HOLY CRAP. That's all I have to say. By the time I got home it was already too late for any other store other than Autozone, so I have to wait until tomorrow to pick up the massive 52 MM ( 2 1/8" ) Socket to fit the nut on the end of the eccentric shaft.

I had a couple of friends over and we all tried our hardest to get that nut off with a pipe wrench and in no way did it move. So... I went to look for a socket to fit on the end of a brake over bar and no luck. Should have more progress tomorrow. Supposedly the nut is torqued to 290 lbs, and I believe it.

Also I picked up some Royal purple for the trans. I think the capacity is 2 5/8 quarts.

So far the total cost of this stuff is:

1000 bucks cash for all of the big parts:

starter, trans, rearend, master cyl, pressure plate, etc.

41.50 for a new clutch slave cyl

250 bucks cash for flywheel/counterweight and a racing clutch

50 bucks in trans/rearend fluid. Mobil1 in rear end, Royal Purple in trans.

Many, many, many borrowed tools (if I didn't have to borrow all of these tools and drive to get them, I'd probably be done.)

So... If I can manage to borrow something to take off that nut it would help me out on price.

So far 1000+41.50+250+50 = 1341.50.. and I'm pretty sure that's it.

Day 4-

Spent all day trying to find something to take the freaking nut off.

My girlfriend gave me a wierd look when I told her I was mad because I couldn't "bust a nut"

and I started talking about my "shaft".

Found a guy to let me borrow the socket...tried, and tried, and tried..many different ways.

Tomorrow I WILL break the nut loose.

-Deuce

52mm nut.
