has anyone had problems with the antenna not going up for a 3rd gen?

whenever i push power on the stock head unit, the antenna tries to go up, but after extending a few inches...

it just goes back down and the radio shuts off...

i tried greasing the actual antenna (after pulling it out) but that didn't help....

can i somehow get to the motor assembly from the trunk?

i can't cruise around without music!! this is urgent

anyone pls help

You have to take off the black panel ion the trunk that covers it. Then it was two little 10 mm nuts holding it on.

The coil is most li9kely broken.

you can get a new antenna from mazdarecyling.com

But make sure to call them to order it. Their online service blows.

http://www.mazdatrix.com/n-4.htm

the antenna mast will cost 'bout $31 from mazdatrix if that's all u need. Should be new too.

I know 7-10 3rd gen owners here in SoCal, and all of our antennas are broken

They always break. I yanked the antenna and had a body shop weld the hole shut. The fd has another antenna in the rear glass. AM doesn't work well though, but I never use it anyway.

I agree with everything, except I think you should get a new mast. Even the O.E.M. ones from Mazda are inexpensive. Yeah- I know it's hard to belive.
