Are they susceptible to the heat generated within our engine bay ? Just completed the vac hose job and Im just wonderin about their integrity and longevity with heat. I have more volume of air now as I have a much smaller battery and removed all emission related components along with complete removal of A/C system in the engine bay but im still concerned..
Side question:
Can you torque them to a point where it can shear a silicon hose ?
..now or after it has aged and been subjected to the heat....

after a while they will get brittle from the heat but i bet your enging will break before one those do 
you can't torque to them to the point so they would break the hose. i changed my turbo system hoses to silicon on my TII. i had a few original rubber hoses they turned to a plastic like material its amazing :baaaa:

unfortunately..you may be right..im on 70k with blacky on the factory motor...
i'll have an opportunity to do a swap with high temp resistant ties then .... hoping to last at least 100k plus
..not sure if im increasing or decreasing its chances by modding it this late stage ...

there is only one way to find out! ever had a compression test done? my car lasted till 87k miles with all the usual boltons and lots of drag racing. mine with like no mods ran 12.8 @113 with the previous owner..... he gave me a STACK of timeslips with the car. atleast he knew what he was doing and didn't break anything
