attaching s6 engine and gearbox

ok so the standard clutch is in, starter motor and slave is off... but the buggers wont get any more than a inch apart... damn it it fitted easy without the clutch..... what am i doing wrong? any hints or pointers? anything apprecated....

the clutch is a pull type. You have to push the lock collar in from the view plate and then the input shaft will slip in.

you mean lock colar as in push the thrust bearing thing onto the clutch hole thing so it locks in place? or is it nothing to do with the fork and thrust bearing?

Here's another way to do it. Attach the clutch cover and disk/plate to the transmission and then put the transmission on. After you get everything lined up, from the viewplate, slip the bolts in the cover and match them to the flywheel. Seems hard, but if it's the only way....



If you look at the clutch cover, there's a metal ring. You have to push that metal ring down and then push the transmission forward so that the input shaft goes in all the way.

also, i leave the pressureplate bolts loose so the clutch has room to align itself, and then tighten once its together.



10000 times easier then trying to get it perfect with the tool, saves so much time.

Have pressure plate on done up to flywheel . On gearbox loosen off slave so gear box and engine can be done up. Slip motor to gearbox and bolt up . (do not use bolts to pull them togeather.) Use a pry bar or long screwdriver to push lever on . It should click on no worries. Then tighten slave back up. Your done.
