Hey, I'm new here. I just bought another 87 Rx-7 Turbo II and on this one the turbo bearing is stuck. I'm sending the turbo off to get rebuilt, and I need to get it off. Any tips with that? Anyways, The main question, is can I take off the turbo and run the car? I want to start it up and drive it around to see how it runs, handles etc. Can I do this? Is it safe? What pipes do i need to reroute? BTW this car has no exhaust, it is unbolted at the header end underneath the car.

Please let me know quick, as I'm driving out to my friends shop to go work on it pretty soon.

No you can't take the turbo off and run the car.

You can't even run the car with the intercooler off.

They have a write up on the teamfc3s.org forum about first time turbo removal.

Hope that helps a bit.
