so I bought a used turbo hoping it would fit my 88 t2. well I didn't know what the flange looked like until I bought the turbo and tried to install it. the turbo I bought has a 4 bolt rectangular pattern, my 88 exhaust manifold has an offset bolt. so I'm guessing this new turbo is for an s5, will a 91 turbo exhaust manifold fit my 88 so I can bolt up this turbo? any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The S5 (89-91) turbo with manifold is widely acknowledged to be an improvement over the S4 (87-88) and should bolt right up.

...And remember; It's not the size, it's how you use it!

I dont think its widly bettor or bettor at all. It just uses V inside the mani instead of a twin scroll. The turbo has a slightly larger WG.

What turbo did you buy?

I bought a knightsport turbo off ebay. It's a hitachi only has a bigger compressor wheel. When I find a s5 manifold, do I just remove that vacuum pot that is on my s4 manifold? or is it gonna be more complicated than that?
