tranny swap

k im prolly gonna get a wrecked parts car with a good motor tranny ect and i may swap the engine from the 91 into the 86 i hear it should bolt righ up and just swap ecu's (will the 91 plug into the 86?) and i was wondering if the tranny bolts right up and if theyre interchangeable?

You can't just swap ecus, everything is different, down to the plugs. You'll just have to run premix or change the front cover to pre88 style for the omp. YOu are putting an 91 engine into an 86 chassis right?



The tranny will bolt up. just gotta keep an eye on what yoaure swapping, keep the stock flywheel from the 91.

If you use the 86 sensors, ECU, injectors, etc. it will work fine. Like turborotor said: You can't just swap ECU's. There are many differences between the 86-88 and 89-91 ECU's and wiring.
