if i swapped out my tranny on my 3rd gen to a t56 with an adapter plate, will i need to use a clutch, flywheel, pressure plate and counter weight combo for the 3rd gen or the t56?

thats a very interesting question. the flywheel will have to match the eccentric shaft bolt pattern, and the counter weight is used to balance the negine, si you'd probibly still need that. Tehn the clutch disk would have to match the splines of thet56 input shaft splines, and the pressure plate would need to bolt up to the flywheel. My guess would be that all FD stuff would be used except for a custom clutch disk with the correct splines. Just an educated guess though

yeah thanks sound about right.see the reason i ask is cuz i will be doin a monster 3 rotor project that is going to blow pettits and pfs's out of the water.it will be done with the stock(maybe a little modified)subframe.keeping perfect steering no modification in that area.also will be no cutting to the firewally.

i have a list im currently working on.it is huge.its gonna be amonster that will take a few yrs.kinda like jimlabs v8 transplant.but i will destroy his monster.the t56 is gonna be built for 700 ft lbs of torque.im gonna buy a vipers t56 for 900 bucks and have it built.the stock configuration can handle over 500 ft lbs.

well ok, good luck!!!!! Let us all know about it when its done.

BTW - One reason they use a subframe or move the firewall is to keep the weight balance. They are trying to keep the motor behind the front wheels. There are alot of engineers that have worked on 20b conversion projects including Jimlab (who sold his 20b and replaced it with the v8), I've sure they have exhausted every possible idea. There is no reason do go to the trouble of a subframe or firewall relocation if they didnt have to. BUT, if your just drag racing and not worried about balance it wont matter, you can just slap it in there.

What computer system are you going to use?

What are you going to do to your 20b that Pettit or PFS couldnt do????? I dont think your going to need a trans that will hold 700ftlbs of tq, you wont be making near that much on a street driven 20b.
