Default Starting Problems

I recently was given an 87 RX7. Got the starter unstuck. Now when i turn the key, it will randomly wont attempt to turn over at all. When it does it tries to start but sounds like no fuel is getting to the engine. Kind of starts with starting fluid but only for a second. Any suggestions?

Had it been sitting a long time? Have you tried unflooding it?

+1 to baldy's. Question i bought one thaet sat for 2 years, first thing i did was drain the fuel change the filter and plugs, also take some time and look over all your vacuum lines for breaks cracks dry rot. Have a fresh battery or a charger hooked up to make sure your getting good voltage. And familiarize your self with deflooding.

http://www.rx7.com/tech/unflood-fc.html

symptoms and procedure for de-flooding. instead of using ATF, oil can be used but i know from experience that ATF works best.
