I recently bought an 88 Rx-7. It's the first rotary I've ever owned and the first rotary I've ever worked on. It didn't run when i got it but after plugs and a battery runs great... except for the part where it won't stop smoking. when i first got it started it smoked some but stopped about 15 seconds later, i drove it around for a couple weeks and it started smoking again little by little until it just got to the point that i have a big *** cloud behind me. through my looking around on the internet I'm led to believe that i need an oil metering pump, but I'm not 100% sure on that because my oil pressure gauge goes all the way up and just sits there, never changes.

 

Can you provide more details? When does it smoke? At idle? WOT? All the time?



Is it a stick or an automatic?



Does it use oil?



Any issues with the cooling system?

 

are you loosing coolant or burning a lot of oil?
