Default Running rich and rough.

89 fc s5 convertible new engine built by reputable 4otary tech

Was running ok, but would not power past 6000 rpm, so I replaced fuel pump with walbro.

Now it only starts with starter fluid. Runs rough as heck, blue smoke (unburnt fuel smell).

Giving gas makes it run roughly up to 4000 rpm before it stalls back to idle or kills engine.

Can't accellerate enough to move car before it chokes on fuel and dies.

Any ideas? I can't figure out why a simple fuel pump swap would cause this problem.

welcome to the board.

it's doing this because you probably put too much pump in it.

you will need a way to regulate your pressure back down to stock ranges, or put a stock pump back in place. i don't think there will be much you can do until you address that.

if it did not power past 6000, then you probably needed to check and see if your auxiliary port sleeves were functioning correctly, before messing with your pump.
