Louder turbos usually means the turbo is dying.

Something to think about...

I'd rather NOT hear my turbo spinning unless it's a BB center GT-series!

****..., good to know, I guess, Im happy about it being quiet?

just slap a cone filter on there and get rid of the stock air box if you really want to hear it. I couldn't hear mine at all and the second I put a cone filter on it was loud as hell, my turbo is fine too, starts spooling at around 1800 and smooth all the way up to 10 :-)

Not exactly Ted

A healthy turbo will make an acceptable sound for it's size if it flowing properly. Quiet OEM turbos are quiet because they are being used behind OEM equipment. Usually after a better flowing filter and no AFM they get louder. That DOES NOT mean they are dying.

They will get louder on the way out, yes, but it not so much louder as it is having a different tone spooling sound.. Hard to explain.. Like it's working harder and not producing power like it used to. I've heard it on larger turbines (mostly Holset's and Garrett's diesel motor intended turbines). Completely different from opening a turbo and letting it breathe, they naturally make more sound.

No need to adopt any type of alarmist attitudes over a louder turbo under circumstance of letting it breathe and boost higher.

My TII is pretty loud when it spools. I have a 2.5" TID with a cone filter, and a 2.5" exhaust. When you rev it up high, you get a loud "sssssssssszzzzzzzzzzzwwwwwwwwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii nnnnnnnnnngggggggggggg!!!!!!".
