Sound system question
#6
In my first 7 (not the one I have now) I added some spacers to mount 5.25 speakers (so that the magnet is all that really ends up in the old 4in hole, used long screws to hold them in, and then custom molded around it with screen/bondo to make the seal. It worked out very well, but I didn't like the extra bulk up front and it took a long time. In the new car I just got some very nice 4 inchers. I think it sounds better to have small speakers crossed over in front and get your bass out of the rears and a subwoofer anyway. You really can't percieve what direction bass comes from and it's a cleaner install. With a good amp and configuration you can have that type of 4+1 setup really thump and not have to "customize" the stock location or the doors.

Ah they are deep, they stick off the door about 2" but i will sell them if you want them because i want to build shallower ones but it will be awhile before i am ready to sell them, i just moved the pocket back too so it is still there and functionable
