Ps Pump Rebuild?
#1
OK, my pump grenaded a few days ago. Grabbed a replacement off of e-bay. Now, I don't want to install a pump if they have a tendency to blow after 100K miles.
So, is there a known flaw or weakness or age limit in these pumps? Are they as stable as the rest of the engine, and mine just took a dump? I will rebuild the replacement if needed, but I don't want to waste the money if they are pretty strong components.

Well, I said "grenaded", not "exploded"
It leaked violently, blew fluid all over, seemed to be behind the pulley. It's also quite crunchy when I spin the pulley by hand...
But, my question still remains, are these strong stable pumps, or should you rebuild any pump that is bought used?

my car has 189K on it, and the pump is still going. one of the hoses leaked previously, and i was adding fluid every week, but that has been replaced and its good now, no squeaks (knock on wood).
