if thats not it, id check the ground of the fuel pump, hard cornering or minor chassis flex may be throwing it off/temporarily disconnecting it, but once u reduce cornering force it reconnects

i pulled back that cover with the 4 screws. (actually, i saw 2 covers, one that was toward the gas tank, the other had a connector to it). So once i take the cover off, i should take the screws off the fuel pump to get access to it, correct?



Also, to take the pump out, should disconnect the battery, or will it be fine

well, i took some pictures. Looks something like this right? weewwww, i might need a small screw driver to get some of the screws inside

That's the back side of the filler neck, the fuel pump is on the other side under the other plate, behind the driver.



It never hurts to disconnect the battery, leaving it connected when making repairs could.

A new clean strainer is best, but cleanint it helps a lot.
