I bought a new (fairly new- 30,000 miles) jdm n/a 13b for my 87 rx-7. Myself and a friend installed the engine, everything is connected, its getting good spark, its getting fuel (new fuel filter, new spark plugs and wires), and its getting air. It drives to turn over by it cant make it. I've checked and rechecked all connections, vac, oil, coolant, gas lines. The fuses are all good still. Im at a loss, if anyone has any suggestions reply or send me an email at blacksailsxx@aol.com

~thanks

Check the timing. Did you do a compression test before you took delivery of the JDM engine? I got one that was notoriously shitty. You could be getting no-low compression, then fouling out your plugs. Check them for contamination.

Where did you get a J-spec NA engine. Thats very impressive considering all the Jananese 2nd Gens were turbos.

I had the same problems, recheck and restab the CAS, and once that is done I bet it is flooded.

are you serious about all the jap 2nd gens being Turbo? Dude I"m gonna kick INTERPARTS OF TULSA's ***!!!

If you're trying to run a turbo motor without the turbo, will it flood out due to no boost, or is the lower c/r enough to start? This will probably be a stoopid question, since I know turbos dont boost at idle, but I'd like an answer all the same.

the company that i bought it from imports engines from japan to sell here, if they were lying to me thats really gay, but theres nothing i can do about it now. Under the warranty, the engine is guaranteed to have "within factory specs" compression and it was tested prior to being shipped. I played around with the timing and turning the crank angle sensor clockwise makes it 'run' crappier, and counterclockwise makes it 'run' better, but it still doesnt turn over. As far as the engine being flooded, that might have been the case, but i pulled the egi fuse and tried starting the car (to clear out all fuel) and then took out the spark plugs and cleaned them, and to my suprise that wasnt much of anything on them, some gas but that was all. After i cleaned them i put them back in and tried starting the car again, and still it wont turn over. If anybody has any other ideas let me know. Thanks ~Ray
