I've spent like 4 hours already trying to figure out WTF the problem is!!! I tightened up all the bolts on the exhaust manifold, turbo, and exhaust but it's still is loud. It feels like it's coming from the compressor side of the turbo. Has anyone ever seen that happen before? My dad said that sometimes when turbos wear out the exhaust leaks through the shaft to the compressor but

one: shouldn't it go into the intake rather than leak out?

two: there is a high volume of gas coming out and it's pretty loud (sounds like it is a big hole)

three: the turbo needs to be rebuilt soon but it shouldn't be that bad that it leaks exhaust.

I guess I'm just gonna take out the turbo tonight and check it out.

I didn't see any and from what I can remember there was no leak before the rebuild or atleast i couldn't hear it.

I can feel the pulses in between the turbine and compressor more towardds the compressor.

BTW: Do I need the heat shields? They are kind of a pain in the ***.

Mine leaks there too. Don't know right where the leak is, all my bolts are tight.

I think the gasket between the turbo and the downpipe is shot, unless you replaced it.

Well I took out the turbo, there were all new gaskets by the way, and looked at everything and it all looked good. So I just started to take the turbo apart. Put it back together and installed it and everythign works fine. Still have no clue what it was though.

That's odd. At least it works now.
