Fired up the 13b and shut it down after a minute or two after seeing a CASCADE of coolant coming out near the water pump. I bought a new pump which I haven't had time to install yet. Sooo, I'm reading these posts about coolant leaks and $50 junk 13bs and when I try this again, where do I need to look for the really bad leaks as in cracked front cover? Can this be taken off with the motor still in the car and TIG welded as good as new? The motor has 186k. Am I now looking at core rather than a driver?

Front cover is unrelated to the cooling system. Was it leaking

out below the pump? There's a "weep hole" down there on the pump.

Anywhere else and it's probably a gasket. Gotta wonder what's

generating all the pressure though.

If you have an internal leak, you will likely get sweet smelling,

smoky exhaust after startup as the antifreeze burns out of the

engine.
