umm water cools better.

anti freeze raises the boiling point and lowers the freezing point.

mine was in the teens for a while, then it still was below freezing, but it worked

out ok. Even the battery froze.
Yeah, i too have been guilty of this one, just last week or so...i had a coolant leak so i decided to stop wasting coolant and put in water. like 15% coolant or so if that left in the motor. Well i left it a shop, and they left it outside, i came back to see it and it was under 6 inches of snow, and i thought oh ****! WATER! when it got back up to like 45 degrees i went and started it, and had the shop flush the cooling system, no damage, i count my blessings on that one, id kick my own *** if i killed a motor because of something so stupid, i wouldnt care if it destroyed a radiator but a whole motor..

Yeah, water has a higher specific heat. So it requires more heat to raise the temperature of a given volume of water.

Well that's one point but mainly I had a leak in the water pump so it was easier to use pure water. In the summer it makes no difference really so I thought what the hell.

So my dad was cool enough to go check on the car for me last night. He pulled off the lower rad hose and he said plenty of water came out. He then put some coolant in and then started it. She started right up after sitting for a few months. I'll be home this after noon to check it out. I have quite a few plans for it this winter so it should be exciting.

Thanks for the input.

Sure thing peng.

So I went out there last night and now I'm good for minus 5 degrees F. I fired her up and she started no problem. I really miss my car. Just sitting in it felt so good. I got my Koyo radiator so monday I'll be doing that along with an e-fan. Hopefully I'll get the rest of the parts soon too.

Once again I appreciate the info/opinions.
