Sup people, new jack here. Ive gotta 88 Rx7 Na with a not normal low compression engine (juss bought car for $350)I bought an 89 engine and manual tranny for $350 (I love gettin deals). My 88 has an auto tranny, I would like to know what additional parts I need to make this thing work. Its gonna be me and my uncles workin on the car, there not mechanics but they both have 86 celicas with rotary engines and did numerous swaps, maybe some1 knows a link or something on how t do this swap to make it easier. Also I wanted to kno witch is better modified fuel injection, or a nice webber carb? And should I go single exghaust or dual. ( the only work I plan to put in is better fuel feeding system, amplified ingnition, bigger tb fuel pump etc. and hopefully next year a 6 psi turbo) Thanx for helpin me out...Jay

Well, I've never done the tranny swap, so honestly, I can't help ya there. What I do know is that if you plan on keeping the fuel injection system, you will need an '89 to '91 NA harness & 5spd ECU(the ECUs are dif for autos and manuals). The best bet would be to simply bolt the tranny & motor up, drop it into the car, swap over to a weber system to avoid all the harness junk and be done with it. This is of course my opinion, and I'm sure many other people on this forum will have others...as for the exhaust..dual looks better, but more power comes from single...

rotary celicas eh? what year are they??? more info plz, lol??

I thought 86 celica were FWD?That means you can't swap in a rotary into them unless they are the 82-85 RWD models.Rotaryman88 has the right Idea about the swap.I wouldn't want to take the pump and **** out of the car tho to convert it to a weber setup but if you want the fun I say go for it.Power wise EFI is just as good on the S5 setup.Another route to do that swap is sell the 89 EFI setup and get the 86-88 EFI(Your stock intakes and fuel injection,ECU and harness' from a 5spd model) setup and plug it in.The 89 engine will need to use the 86-88 intake manifolds and front cover because of the mechanical oil metering pump but other wise it should be that hard. The you would have just the swap of a couple harness' and maybe to the 89-91 tranny mounts.I think the mounts are different.

Yea, i've been looking into these kits that they used on the buggies cuz my friend wants to put a 13b in his '85 626, lol...go rallying w/ it...so far the only way i've seen to make a FWD rotary was with those kits...its not TOO pricey either...but still, custom fab will be needed for other parts..
