Hey. When im driving in traffic, with the AC on, and im coming to a stop, the engine will drop in RPM, and sometimes die. it wont recover its idle speed quick enough to keep it running. car is a 1988 N/A 5 speed. anyone got any idea on how i can fix this? maybe adjust the TPS sensor or idle air valve perhaps. thanks

yes it cold be the tps out of adjustment but have you played around with the fuel injector variable resistor. If you have you may have set it too lean to run with a slight load like a/c

I had the same problem, I played with the screw thats under the black plug right on top of the throttle body, it seems to have cured the problem and I dont have a monster idle either.

i have a 3rd gen so i dont know how much help this will be.but whenever u engage the clutch on the a/c(turn it on)it puts a slight load on the engine.electrically and eccentrically.all cars do this.what it could is ur idle was to low in the first place?a ground not grounded correctly?a short?when u adjust ur throttle needle(3rd gens have it unsure about 2nd gens)make sure u tighten the screw around the base of it.i know my idle would drop and almost die i thought i was losing compression.what it was was the nut needed tightening(vibrations from engine).what is ur idle set at without a/c on?

almost same exact thing in my case.

86 GXL, but like a year ago I let my friend toy with it and I think he turned the screw in the plunger clockwise a few times and the idle is 800 RPMs and 600 RPMs with A/C on. but it doesn't go below so much that it dies like before.

another weird thing is that I do not have the 3k RPM cold start-up. it idles at 700 RPMS from the beginning but dies if I don't step on the gas within 10 seconds and thenidles at 1500 RPMs until it warms up.

W E I R D

indeed
