if your intake is messed up or something else in that area is connected wrong it could cause you to run rich. If your car floods a lot it smells like gas a lot. I just try to ingore the weird smells that come from my car and pretend that its someone else.

These things are always matters of degrees. I find that my T2 doesn't so much smell like gas as just super rich exhaust. If you are smelling gas like someone just dumped a gallon on the floor of your garage, I'd be looking for the source. Naturally, the pulsation damper should be your first suspect. Run the car till you smell the gas, shut it off and get a flashlight and look and listen under the intake for any signs of leaks. I could hear mine spraying and see a puddle.

You might be fine, but I'd damn sure have a look before I assumed it was okay.

Leaky injectors can cause same problem ,listen for a hiss w/ the ignition on but the car off.Anyways thats one of my problems,if its the pulsation dampener take the plastic cap off to see if the screw came lose if so loctite it and screw it.
