Just wondering what the cost is one ours and if anyones had good luck with doing it. Long ago i looked up a replacement cost came to be 600+ with trade in core. Hoping rebuilding will be cheaper. I tried the usual no ac for a while long ago but in FL especialy when raining its impossable. The top holds so much heat you put the windows up in the rain and you cant stop any of the glass from fogging up.

Yeah it's hot here in july and August! Here in Jax had a place just below Daytona (can't recall the name) rebuild my fd unit, didn't work out well. First one blew a line it built pressure so high, second one worked 3 months. Good used one working, go figgure. And it is not and easy replacement either.

I'd go new, if you can find one. I spent a bunch of money years ago on my Chevy C30 truck. Bought the reman compressor, receiver/dryer, and a couple hundred dollars worth of R12. A friend and I spent a Saturday installing the parts, drawing a vacuum on the system and charging it. Worked great. The **** lasted for about 9 months. Leaked out through the Pep Boys compressor I bought. Looking back, maybe the $500. that the Chevy dealer wanted for a new unit wasn't such a bad deal after all.
