Nice subframe... are there any clearance problems with the oil pan?

 

No. Mandeville cut the pan depth by 50% and added more baffling. Ground clearance is the same as stock.

 

if you don't mind my asking, how much did that subframe run you? Suppose they'd be willing to make another? What is going to be done about bumpsteer? are you able to retain the PPF with this configuration? looking great. . .can't wait til it's done

 

Just the subframe was about $3,000. There is no bumpsteer because I cut the firewall and moved the motor back 7 inches. The firewall work is a seperate bill

 

I think you're right for reasons illustrated by the pic in my signature In all seriousness, I'm having a great time doing it and happy to share what I am learning along the way. I have certainly received a lot of good input for other people on the forum, so it's kind of a group project



I have attached a picture of the short block and turbo that I took last weekend. When I first saw the motor and turbo together outside of the car I went into system shock. Look at the size of it all!!! Dragon, you can see how shallow the oil pan is in the pic.

 

What's the matter, did they run out of turbo's for cruise ships?



Had to settle for the smaller one?

Nice car, I am just starting my 20B swap.



Just curious, why didnt you buy a subframe and drop spindle kit instead of moving the motor back? Im going with the RX-7 Specialties subframe and spindle kit. It makes things alot easier.

Two reasons I did not use a drop in subframe: (1) weight distribution (2) bumpsteer (even with the correction kit).

 

How do you know that the correction kit does not work? Have you tried it or is this someones hearsay. If it is then who told you that?
