Tb Mod
#1
i am about to do the tb mod this week and while my tb is at the machine shop getting welded i was thinking about having them port it.
what would the benefits of porting it be, and what exactly would they need to do to port it? also, would i have to change anything else because of the porting?

Not real knowledgable on porting in general but I would think that porting a tb would allow a higher amount of air to enter the engine than compared to a stock tb but would probably give ya minimal power gains on that old *** motor ya got man. Maybe with tuning you could pull some power out of it but I think ya would probably just be wastin money better spent elsewhere ya know?

[quote name='treceb' date='May 10 2005, 01:00 PM']all the "extra" air needs to go somewhere. so if there arent any supporting mods, then gains are minimal if any.

thanks a lot, guess ill just do the mod then.

why? it makes no difference in the way the car runs, unless the secondary plates weren't opening anyways, but thats a thermovalve being bad, its external

so youre saying that the tb mod isnt worth doing? i thought it cleared up the tb and made throttle response better? i know it gets rid of the coolant line that runs through the tb which should help cool it down
