Ever notice how our engines are only held in by 2 tiny mounts at the bootom? Obviously with the torque our engine s put out, it's really not enough. I'm in the process of taking care of this problem by addin a 3'd mount in the engine bay to keep the motor from twisting under heavy acceleration. My prelininary tests are going well. Unfortunatly this will only work for cars with no airpump, but I'm working on that, as well as looking into a hydrolic type strut to save space, which would make it possible to work in any FD.

Why I'm doing this? I put new mounts in my car a year ago... I changed my oil pan gasket on thursday, and while I was under there I seen that I broke one allready. Cheap *** crap!

 

That's a good idea. Some people just use a bar going from the front of the motor to the frame for extra bracing.

 

The bar is a sure fire way to hold the engine in place, but a solid link between engine and chassis usually causes lots of vibration transmitted in the car. That's why I used a mount with rubber bushings for now. If I can't find a good hydraulic setup, I'll replace those rubbers with poylurathane and see how that works out

 

Yeah, the metal bar method can make the car uncomfortable. A friend of mine used hockey pucks to make his motor mounts, and they are working very well.
