The hub I have will bolt right up, I'm confused as to what the problem would be?

As far as gaskets go, can I just pick up some gasket material from any old auto parts store?

I got a roll of gasket material at the local parts store and spent a night with a exacto knife to make most of my gaskets.

Your Cosmo engine will love that! Mine will have to make due with a somewhat used RB flywheel.

Well you did the right thing by orienting the engine shaft up for pulley removal. Moving the engine may present a problem. Which way is the shaft pointing now?



I think the spacer Jeff20B mentioned is the copper washer under the bolt (am I right?)... This isn't the one I was referring to. Inside the front cover, under the counterweight, there's a thrust bearing (flat roller bearing) that rides between the counterweight and the thrust plate. On the other side of the thrust plate is another thrust bearing. The ID of the bearings is larger than the eccentric shaft. There's a little sleave that fits onto the shaft that the bearings fit over. This is where you can get into trouble.

I was talking about the flat steel 1mm one you're talking about that fits in the recess on the back side of the counterweight.

Yeah I identified the washing thing you are talking about. It *looks* just fine. It fits right in where it's supposed to and looks just like the RB picture. I rotated the washer to double check its flatness.

*EDIT* As soon as I saw the engine out of place, we moved it back into its upright position. Would my father have heard the counterweight slide and bang up that washer/spacer?

Wow, I just got an earful from a Mazda parts dealer about how I should change the crossmember and not just get the special front cover-style mount.
