Project Update
#351
I got my Haltech back on Monday. After talking with their techs they wanted me to send it in, as nothing I tried (resetting the power, different cables/computers) re-established communication.
Just to reiterate, I was adjusting ignition timing and the connection with the ECU got dropped; it has never worked since.
So anyways, it still doesn't work. Although it doesn't make a lot of sense, maybe the serial cable within the harness somehow went bad? I mean, I took off the plastic connector on the end of the serial cable and all of the wires are connected on that end...I'm very scared to take apart the harness connector to the Haltech though.
Anyways, I'm going to call them tonight and give Kickyride a call and see what they think I should try, it's very, very frustrating at this point.

I'll just throw out some possiblities to see if anything helps. I am not real familiar with the Haltech.
- so you tried different serial cables, com ports, computers, etc., correct?
- maybe reinstall the software. Is the communacations to the Haltech able to be checked with hyperterminal or something similar?
- Does the Haltech have power and ground? It will need these in order to communicate.
- All fuses to the Haltech good?
- Have you tried disconnecting everything but power and ground and check communication then (maybe a sensor power wire is grounded out somewhere).
I suspect that if they really checked it, it must be something with your setup (harness, computer, software, cables, etc.).
Hope this gives you some places to check.

Well I'll spend the majority of tomorrow (today I guess, heh) with a multimeter and some wire checking all of the pins in the harness. It just really doesn't make sense for it to crap out on me all of a sudden. I have a serial port on my laptop but I also purchased a USB->serial adapter and achieved the same results.
Again, sooooo frustrating.
I feel that I've been so close for so long...like software development...I'm at the 90% completion point and I've been there FOREVER.
Thanks for the suggestions Kent.

Yeah I was just thinking that...but, I don't want them to stand out that much...my wheels are what I want people to look at. I might just paint them black and maybe paint the MAZDA part white or silver...

Good news for all you FB owners out there!
The machine shop finished the part needed to fit FC hubs on my spindles and they are planning to do a run of them. Yay.
I'm going to drop off my other strut so he can finish fitment and then I shall post pics!
