Done that before, what a bitch, I dont think I'd recomend doing it without the tool, I had to use a chisel , hammer, grinder took a long time to get it out and it came out in many pieces , next time I change it Imma gonna for sure get the tool
One thing that has worked for me is to fill the hole with grease, lots of it!
Then take your pilot tool (clutch alignment tool) and a hammer.
Push the alignment tool into the hole (filled with grease) as hard as you can.
If it bottoms, use more grease. Keep this up until you can't fit the tool more that
1/8".
With the tool in the hole, tap on it with the hammer. This forces the grease to push
the bearing out from the back side of the bearing. If you run out of tool before the
bearing comes out, use more grease. Or go buy the special Mazda tool.

Heres what I just did last week. Harbor Freight Tools has a pilot bearing removal tool for around fourteen bucks. Part number is 4876. It is too big stock. Grab your new pilot bearing and go find a bench grinder. Grind the "feet" till they are small enough to go inside the bearing. When I removed mine, it never went in all the way, but it wedged in enough to get the old bearing out. It worked very well.

Well I went to autozone and got one and it worked. But my pilor bearing seal was in like a million pieces. That was bad. Car wouldn't even try to go in gear. o well gotta wait to get the seal before its on the road again.
Been there and done it 6 times. Smogfighter has the best way to do it without the expense of the puller. Grease and more Grease will do the trick. As far as the seal there only $1.50us.
You may try to spray some solvent i.e. Brake cleaner into the Pilot Bearing hole and clean all the old Grease out of it. Check for any bers or lost roller bearings, if it looks good just clean it well and pack it with new grease.
Alot of times you get lucky and this will work just as well as going thru the headache of pulling a perfectly good Pilot Bearing. One thing to remember is that the only time it's used is when push in on the clutch.
