I got my first gen about 6 months ago. Since I've had the car it's had a knocking noise that comes from the back whenever you hit a bump. At first I thought it was the struts, so I replaced the struts, but it still makes that knocking sound. Then I thought my hatch was loose, so I tightened that, nope. The noise seems to be coming from the right rear fender well.

Any ideas on what this could be? it's becoming a really frustrating problem

Its probably the Spring that holds the brakes. Mine came out and it does the same thing you describe.. Haven't fixed it yet.. but really can't hear it anymore.. system and exhaust is about all I hear anymore.
