Just Rebuilt Carb.

ok guys. the vaccum unit that opens and closes the shutter valve ( which i think cuts off the back rotor on dec.) was not working, i took it off blocked it off and have since reattached the whole intake and carb. two questions, if i leave the key in the on position, will the carb fill up with gas?. second, i turn the key now and hear the starter go "click".......what the ****?

Yup, floats. they keep the proper fuel level in the carb.
Do you have the stock fuel pump or an aftermarket? If aftermarket, you might want to
check fuel pressure. Too much and it will flow past the needle & seat.
Also, you might want to check the float "pins" (little rods that hold the floats) and make
sure they hold the float properly.
Good luck.

why would the carb fill up with gas, like to the point of overflowing, if the key is left in the on position?.....floats? something else?.....

maybe the retainers that hold the needles to the floats were hung up on something??
A little TAP TAP to free them and they won't be able to get stuck again!! (As long as you DON'T run out
of fuel!!)

ill try tapping a little. i really do appreciate all the help you guys have given me. its just so damned frustrating cause now i believe i have fixed my original problem, but now al of these little things are popping up and i cannot even crank it up to see my progress. the 14mm bolt holding the starter to the tranny is being so damned bitchy, having trouble getting it off, so im waiting for a friend of mine with a little more *** to him to come on over and help. and id like to say thanks to red86 for coming over and helping me with the carb, real help buddy.

and yes it is the stock pump, its just wired, cause i tried to crank it, and it just clicked, so i sat there for a second, and then heard water hitting the ground, went around the car and fuel was coming from the carb, took off the air cleaner and gas was flowing over the top. one more question, instead of pouring the atf in from the plug holes , can i just pour it down the throat of the carb?
