doesnt the tach work off of the trailing ignitor?! damnit, the trailing and leading ignitors can be swaped right? unfortunatly it has been raining for what feels like the past month here, and i dont want to drive for 45 minutes to find out its closed, and besides, i dont want to be working on a rusted banged up car in the middle of a downpour, water wont hurt the ignitors will it damn i getting tired of that place too. tried helping Mikebeezie3404 with his problem, toldhis to spray some carb cleaner or starting fluid in a spray canon the vaccum lines, sounds like he may have a vaccum leak. cant wait to see that phone bill. so anyways if i ever get to go to the all mighty yard of the deceased then maybe i can make some progress instead of sitting naked on the couch with a tub of butter watching car and driver

Tach works off the coil. The coil works off the ignitor. If your ignitor is toast make sure that you test them both. That will help your starting but you still need to figure out the rest of it too.

well, after getting up at the crack of dawn today, ive managed to come home with and new piece to the carb, the one that i found the huge intake leak in, new tail light covers and red/white/yellow markers that fit inside, seeing how mine are all broke, and new ignitors, i mean all of this just came off of an 84 with 13,000 miles damn im good. now the carb piece needs some modifying, but im all up for it, its soaking in carb cleaner right now to break up some of the dirt and grease and ****. im going to take a shower and go the **** to bed. ive spent the past 5 hours in two different junkyards, i cfant tell what color my hands should be and i have cuts all over my hands and arms.... damn it feels good to be a man

yeah no ****, ive been up all night so far doing a few mods to it, the way ive got everything set up i have to basicly customize what parts i am using. very weird, thats why im still kinda apprehensive about the whole thing. had to fix a piece of metal that opens the secondaries when the throttle is pushed, finally ended up using modeling glue, then when that dried i put on some JB Weld, and sanded it down to perfection and since then ive been waiting for the sun to come up, i dont want the police being called today. besides i cant see under the hood very well without the sun being up. sooooooo, hopefully by tonight ill know whether or not ive just been wasting my time, then again, it IS a HUGE intake leak.....and one simple question....why would 'secondary' barrels be larger than primary?

Primaries are used for part throttle and idle so they don't need to be as big.The secondaries supply the carb the big dose of fuel needed as the rpms rise.Too big of primaries will cause a **** idle or flooded out engine.

well the JB Weld broke. so im going to have to soder or weld. body shop down the road where i live and i know the guy, so if he ever gets his *** up and opens shop ill see if he can do it for me. and that makes sense about the barrel size, i was just wondering. and how common is it for an ignitor to go bad?

the ignitors go bad a lot, especially if you have bad plug wires or something
