I started my car let it warm up and all that good stuff, went for a drive and she started to smell a little funny. So I popped the hood didn't happen to see anything odd or broken. Then next day I went through the normal routine and this time she was smoking with the same goofey smell little lost as to whats goin on. the smoke originates around the back of the engine around the mess of vaccume lines and all that crap. Strangest thing is the car runs fantastic like its in top notch shape. would anyone happen to know whats goin on or has anyone encountered this problem. the car is an 82 with the 12A blah blah is she doomed or is it a minor problem I would love any ideas so I can further my restore on my little friend thanks alot..

I hope its a minor problem... I started it today let her run for 45min went for a drive popped the hood and noticed a couple pools of a mystery fluid and again a crap ton of smoke. Said mystery fluid is pooling on th eindetentations above the 12A engine stamp and where the oil filler nece and filter are located. I suspect the fluid is coolant. But the massive amount of smoke is concentrated arond the emissions stuff twards the firewall any insite on where this leak of coolant could be and how to seal it up would be fantastic its got me a little baffold

If you smell the substance you should be able to tell what it is. Coolant has a really sweet smell. I am not too familiar with the 12a's but I would check the hose that comes out of the rear portion of the block(if you even have one). That is a coolant hose.

Get us some pictures or a better description. We can't help you if you don't identify the problem better. If you are not mechanically savy don't worry about sounding stupid. People here are great, they will not think any less of you. It is not like we are over at the other forum.
